Yuh builds the week’s menu around whatever the garden gives us, and she ran a peanut-free kitchen long before it was a feature. She did it for her two allergic sons. Tell us what you eat before you come; we just need 48 hours for anything we have to order in.

SUSTAINABILITY

The island runs 100% on solar; the water is rain we catch, then run through reverse osmosis and UV. We buy our cacao and nutmeg from Roque’s mother’s Ngäbe co-op on the mainland, and bring them coconuts from our garden for their oil.

ECO-COMFORT

Organic-cotton sheets and a ceiling fan: there’s no A/C, but the sea breeze comes through and the nights run cool enough that you won’t miss it. The solar system goes quiet around ten, and the dark gets real.
